5 ways a smart home can make your fall easier

Summer is great, but there is something wonderful about fall and the change in weather it brings. With the darker nights and cooler temperatures, most of us will start making changes to the home to keep it cozy and the cold at bay.

A smart home can help you feel comfortable

Are you relaxing with a good book under the blanket or don't want to get up from the sofa so as not to disturb the cat that has settled comfortably on your lap? If your home is connected, you can use your voice to do things like play your music, tune into Netflix, or even turn up the heating. That's because smart speakers don't just play audio, they also listen to what you have to say.

Party center when friends and family come over

While garden parties and barbecues may be a more common sight in the summer, gatherings usually move back indoors in the fall. A few years ago, you could put a CD in the CD player or turn on the radio or TV to provide music or background noise. With smart technology, you can do this and much more. Ask your favorite streaming service to play some jazz, pull up photos from your recent trip, or even search YouTube to show your guests a video you know they'll love.

Keep an eye on things

Autumn is a perfect time for a walk close to home or a little further afield. With the long school holidays over, the tourist hotspots and beaches are quieter, making it the perfect time to go on holiday and soak up the last of the summer sunshine. Or maybe you're returning to school work after a summer break.

Fall can bring a change in routine for many of us and some time away from home, whether it's for a few hours or a few days. Now you can keep an eye on things when you're not there using a smart home camera connected to another smart device like a phone or tablet.

Who's at the door?

Have you turned on the heat yet? Maybe you're reluctant to let it go so early, so look for fluffy pajamas and a fluffy robe to keep you warm in the morning or just when you're relaxing at home. And while we can all accept that the people who deliver your mail and parcels have seen some things on the job, that doesn't mean we want to be seen curled up in our worn, tea-stained dressing gown. Fortunately , smart home technology can allow you to receive your package without opening the door or leaving the room you're in. Plus, you'll be able to see who's visiting your front door even if you're not there.

Check your home energy and broadband

Electricity and broadband keep the smart home running, so it's important to check that you have the right installation that works for your household.
